Soul Winning and Evangelism Training - Effective Outreach to Seek and Save Lost Souls, Church Growth

Equip and empower your church to seek and save the lost. Experience unprecedented church growth, harvest of souls, and revival now!

Jesus said, "I will make you fishers of men" (Mark 1:17).

Fishing happens usually one of two ways: with a hook and a net.

I liken the net approach to fishing nations, going into all the world to "seek and save the lost" (see Luke 19:10). Yet the evangelist Philip was also skillful in one-on-one evangelism. Being led by the Spirit of God to leave a great revival full of multitudes of people to whom he was preaching in the city of Samaria, Philip was taken by God to Gaza on the backside of the desert to speak to an Ethiopian of great authority (see Acts 8).

The divine appointment orchestrated by God was beautifully arranged, because when Philip arrived and showed up the Ethiopian was already reading the prophet Isaiah from the Bible (see Acts 8:26-29). Philip immediately asked him, "Do you understand what you are reading?" (v. 30)

Interestingly, Philip's evangelistic approach began in the form of a question. Jesus was often no different in His approach. The Lord asked His disciple Peter, "Who do men say that I am? Who do you say that I am?" (see Matthew 16:13,15).

Here are some good soul winning and evangelism questions to use to open hearts in route to salvation when you converse with people on a daily basis.

- Have you discovered the grace of God?
- Have you ever felt burdened and weighed down by sin?
- Have you ever felt guilt and shame, but didn't know what to do about it?
- Do you know how to be reconciled to your heavenly Father and experience the blessings of heaven?
- Have you experienced the embrace of our loving God?
- Do you know the fullness of life available to you in Jesus Christ?
- Have you experienced the joy of newness of life?
- Do you know the Prince of peace who quiets all stress and strife in your life?
- Do you have any questions about God or things I can pray for you concerning?
- What is the best thing and the worst thing you have ever heard about God?
- Have you ever known religion and religious people to misrepresent the heart of God?
- How do you and your family feel about God?

I have experienced the joy of winning souls and equipping God's people throughout the world to impact their communities. As Jesus said, "Launch out into the deep for a great catch" (Luke 5:4).

If your life is boring it's not God's fault. Embark upon the adventure of soul winning with God and experience the joy of winning souls!

Sonia Gandhi - A Woman Of Substance And Power!

It is tough to believe that an Italian born girl will once be the face of a country, of India miles away from her birth place and achieving such extraordinary success. This is not something that any human being can get and more importantly maintain for such a long time. Born in a small village in Italy Sonia Gandhi is now the President of the Indian National Congress and is the longest serving chairperson in the 125 years of history of the congress party in India.

Sonia Gandhi was married to the son of the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She was married to Rajiv Gandhi and she has two children. Both she and her husband avoided the public eye and kept themselves out of politics for a long time. There was constant pressure on both of them to join politics from various people in the political world but she managed to maintain a low profile and was more focused on her family. However, she came to public eye after the assassination of her mother-in-law and election of her husband as the prime minister of India in the next elections.

Sonia Gandhi could not be kept under the wraps for very long, after election of her husband, Rajiv Gandhi as the prime minister of India. She was the official hostess of the prime minister and so she had to accompany him to many of his visits to the states. After the assassination of her husband Rajiv Gandhi P. Narshima Rao became the president and the Prime Minister. The congress party then became the ruling party but under leadership of Rao. The fortunes of the party kept dwindling and the Congress had a number of internal disputes at that time.

Then in 1998 Sonia Gandhi was made party member and president. Many leaders of the party opposed her credibility to become the Prime Minister due to her foreign origin and this had caused major rift in the Congress party. She also offered to resign as party president. The people who protested against her finally left the party and formed a separate party. Since congress was no longer in power she was made the leader of opposition and led the no confidence movement against the ruling party, BJP. Congress along with the help from the left formed the UPA that became the ruling party and she appointed Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of India.

Being a widow in one of the most respected families of the country this lady has kept herself away from any kind of controversy, everything from her dressing sense to her speech. It is very visible from Sonia Gandhi photos that she dresses very elegantly and is a true representative of the country. Her speaking skills and leadership qualities are also talked of and Sonia Gandhi videos clearly suggest this fact. Being of Italian origin, she has worked a lot on her speaking skills and is now one of the best speakers and leaders in the country.

Darren Beadman Ministers to Others As a Jockey

Darren Beadman is arguably Australia's most successful jockey, but he is also a jockey with the unusual career twist of being an ordained minister.

Darren Beadman's Racing Career: Take One

Beadman's riding career had a flying start when he won the apprentice jockeys' title in his first season, 1982/83. He won the title again in 1984/85, the same season he had his first Group 1 win on Inspired in the Golden Slipper, a race he won again in 1997 on Guineas. In 1990, Beadman won the Melbourne Cup on Kingston Rule in only his third start in the race.

In 1996, Beadman completed the double of winning the Cox Plate and the Melbourne Cup - two of the most prestigious races on the Australian racing calendar. Also in 1996, he took the record of 186 winners Australia-wide and won the Sydney Jockeys' Premiership.

Beadman won the 1996 Melbourne Cup on a horse called Saintly - quite an appropriate name when you consider his next career move.

Beadman Joins the Ministry and Takes the Road Less Travelled

Beadman had been given a nine month disqualification from racing in Hong Kong. On his return to Sydney, Beadman used the nine months to consider his future, and he decided to make a full-time commitment to his faith and the Hillsong Church. The birth of his daughter who is profoundly deaf may also have affected his decision.

Beadman stunned the racing world in 1997 by announcing that he was retiring from racing to become a full-time member of the ministry at the Christian Life Centre at Waterloo, a Pentecostal Christian Church better known as the infamous Hillsong Church.

Beadman Returns to the Race Track and Further Success

The lure of the race track was too strong though, and in 2000 Beadman returned to the track and continued his dazzling racing career. He won further Sydney Jockey Premierships in 2002/03 and 2003/04, and recorded 143 wins in 2004/05 and 152 wins in the 2005/06 season.

These days, Beadman is again based in Hong Kong but still races frequently in Australia. His son Mitchell Beadman is also a jockey. In March, Darren returned to ride Bart Cumming's filly Occurrence in the Surround Stakes - replacing Mitchell.

In April Beadman was compared to the famous jockey George Moore, when he rode Tuesday's Joy at Rosehill's BMV, bringing a tally of three Group One wins from three rides on the mare.

Unfortunately Beadman had a bad fall in a Hong Kong race in October, which meant that he missed the 2008 Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup. He cracked his coccyx (tail bone) and was out of racing for some time while it healed.

Darren Beadman has been inducted into the Australian Horse Racing Hall of Fame and is considered one of Australia's greatest ever jockeys - even though he is currently based overseas. It would seem that although he has changed course over his life, he has discovered his true calling: not as a minister but as a jockey who inspires many others.

The Extraordinary Man

An extraordinary man is an uncommon man, a real man and a balanced man. It is not a product of how old he is, but a product of how well he has become. A man may look muscular, strong, energetic and solid but he may still be a boy in character, habits, attitudes, carriage and emotion.

The question then is who is an extraordinary man? Before we answer that question, let's look at his trails.

Trails of an Extraordinary Man

He is a progressive man, growing daily unto perfection, growing daily into the likeness of Christ. He is moving from:

1. Boy to Man: He is bold and courageous; he is ready to face responsibilities like providing for his family, defending, protecting and shielding them. He is not lazy, fearful nor lustful. He is godly, thoughtful and useful.

2. Man to Husband: He is not just a man; he has grown up to become a husband and father "house-bound". He takes care of his wife, becoming a lover boy. He treats his wife as a queen becoming the leader, father, mentor, friends and cover of the wife.

3. Husband to Father: He is not just a husband; he is a father. He is adequately committed to his children, leading them in the path of righteousness, protecting them and ensuring all is well.

4. Father to Minister: He is the chief priest of the family, the senior pastor of the family. He defends his family, through prayer and righteousness. He ensures his children are born again, serving the Lord. He builds a strong prayer altar at home, praying for and with his wife and children.

5. From Minister to Pillar: He is not just a minister he has become a pillar, strong pillar of support for his wife and children. He is a financial, emotional and spiritual pillar. He is a good example for the whole family.

A Wedding Agenda - Great Tool For an Organized Rehearsal

The wedding is tomorrow, and everything must go perfectly. Tonight is the wedding rehearsal. Everyone is excited, anticipating the grand event. Because of the wedding buzz, reunion with friends and relatives, detail overload, and fatigue, some of the information imparted tonight will be lost amid the hubbub. To ensure that all wedding participants have a backup source to provide vital information that may not be absorbed during the rehearsal, I always provide to wedding participants an agenda of the wedding ceremony that can be used as a reference should any participant need a refresher before the event.

Below is an example of a wedding procedure handout. This template gives you a good idea of what needs to be included and can be tailored to meet your unique needs. This procedure is for a wedding beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Wedding Procedures for Smith-Jones Wedding

5:00 P.M--Ushers/groomsmen should be in the foyer to seat guests. Do not seat anyone until all members of the wedding party have left the sanctuary and all pictures have been made. Preferably, no one will be seated prior to one hour before the service.
5:00 P.M.--Groom, minister, and best man should be situated in the area from which they will come into the sanctuary when the ceremony begins.
5:30 P.M.--Prelude of musical selections begin while guests are seated.
5:45 P.M.--Selected usher will seat paternal grandparents.
5:47 P.M.--Selected usher will seat maternal grandparents
6:00 P.M.--Vocalist will sing "First song."
6:05 P.M.--Mothers are seated as "Song" is played. (Selected usher will escort groom's mother to her assigned place on the right side of the aisle, father will follow closely behind. When this usher returns to the foyer, selected usher will escort the bride's mother to her assigned place on the left side of the aisle.) At this point, absolutely no other guests will be seated.
6:10 P.M.--Vocalist will sing "Song."
6:15 P.M and beyond.--Musicians will begin to play "Song." Minister, Groom, and Best Man will enter the sanctuary from their waiting area and take their places at the front of the church. When they are in place, the processional will begin--Usher #1 will enter the sanctuary and take his place at the front. When Usher #1 is halfway down the aisle, Usher #2 will enter and take his place at the front. Usher #3 will enter when #2 is halfway down the aisle; Usher #4 will follow suit. When Usher #4 is halfway down the aisle, Bridesmaid #1 will enter the sanctuary and this procedure will continue until all attendants are in place--ending with the maid of honor. (Could be flower girl if you have one in the wedding.)
When the wedding party members are in place, the musician will end "Processional Song."
The "Bridal Song" will begin and the bride will enter the sanctuary escorted by her father. They will proceed down the aisle and take their places at the front.
At this point, the minister will take over and conduct the ceremony which will include the invocation, greeting, presentation of the brids, and wedding message.
When the wedding message is concluded, vocalist will sing "Song."
After the song, the minister will proceed with the exchange of vows and exchange of rings.
After the exchange of the the rings, the minister will ask everyone to join in prayer while vocalist sings "Prayer Song."
After the "Prayer Song" the minister will present the couple to the audience.
6:55 P.M.--The Recessional ("Song") will begin and the bride and groom will exit the ceremony, followed by the Maid of Honor and Best Man, Usher #1 and Bridesmaid #1, Usher #2 and Bridesmaid #2, and Usher #3 and Bridesmaid # 3.
Father of the bride will escort mother of the bride from the sanctuary after Usher and Bridesmaid #3.
Father of groom will escort mother of the groom from the sanctuary after the father and mother of the bride.
Grandmother of the bride will be escorted from the sanctuary by the grandfather of the bride.
Grandmother of the groom will be escorted from the sanctuary by the grandfather of the groom
When all wedding party participants have exited, the minister will invites all guests to stay for the reception immediately following the ceremony.

Because every wedding is unique, the wedding procedure I have provided will not address all aspects of your ceremony; however, it gives you a good idea of what sort of information should be provided. The more information you can provide to those involved in making your wedding perfect, the better. In addition to the wedding party, the minister, musicians, and photographers will certainly appreciate knowing all the details. It also helps the wedding director to stay focused since there will be many distractions in the moments leading up to the grand event.

How to Prepare a Sermon

Many new religious pastors and ministers get very nervous while they put together their first sermons. Be honest: how many readers of this article found it by typing "how to prepare a sermon" into your favorite search engine?

There are plenty of websites out there that will spell out specific steps you can take when he or she is looking for guidance on how to prepare and put together a sermon. The truth is, however, that preparing sermons is a personal and private process. What works for you one week might not work for you the next. Eventually, as you become more experienced at sermon preparation, you will figure out how to find inspiration when it feels like your mental well has run dry.

One of the ways to learn how to prepare a sermon is to begin by working from a prepared outline. The outline works sort of as a roadmap toward your final product. The outline will help you focus your thoughts and figure out exactly what you want to say at the end of the week.

Some outlines will ask you to start by choosing a scripture that you want to use to inspire your congregation. Other outlines will ask you which topic you want to talk about. From your first choices, an outline can help you fill in your exposition until you have a sermon that is ready to be presented.

Learning how to prepare a good sermon will involve quite a lot of trial and error. As any experienced pastor or minister will tell you...sometimes the words flow easily and sometimes they most definitely do not. Identifying the proper tools (like how to websites, sermon outlines, etc) to help you put together your sermon when you do not feel inspired is part of the learning process that every pastor and minister goes through.

The Five-Fold Ministry: Part One

Part 1: Historically-speaking

As a child, I spent a few years living in a town called Zion in northeast Illinois. In recent years, I've done some research on the town and discovered that quite a few evangelists and ministers from America's past actually hailed from that small town as well, or had some sort of "Zion Connection." Gordon Lindsay, the founder of Christ for the Nations institute, Dallas, Texas, was from Zion. So was Finis Jennings Dake of Dake's Bible fame. Jerry Jenkins, co-Author of the popular "Left Behind" series is from Zion. John G. Lake's ministry was jump-started there when his wife was actually healed by Zion's founder, John Alexander Dowie, a Congregational minister who founded and oversaw the Christian Catholic Church, established in 1896. In 1901, with 5,000 followers, Dowie established the "City of Zion" and ran the town as a Puritan theocracy. In 1904, he revealed that he had been Divinely commissioned to be the "First Apostle" and told his followers to anticipate the full restoration of apostolic Christianity. Many thought Dowie was nuts after this and, in 1906, the believers in the Zion community began to diminish. Dowie passed away the following year.

According to author Frank Viola in his article on the five-fold Ministry, "In 19th century England, Christians were ripe to flock to apocalyptic prophecies about the coming Millennial Age. The upheaval that the French Revolution had produced left God's people wishing for a reign of peace under their Lord that would set all things right. In the year 1824, Edward Irving, a Presbyterian pastor in Scotland, began teaching that "the five-fold ministry" of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers had disappeared from the church and were in need of restoration. According to Irving, the restoration of these ministries would usher in the Millennial Kingdom of Christ on the earth. As a result of Irving's teachings, he and his followers began the Catholic Apostolic Church in 1832. Its chief purpose was to restore "the five-fold ministry" and usher in the Millennial Kingdom. The church ordained twelve "apostles" who were to be the last days equivalent of the original Twelve whom Jesus appointed. Henry Drummond, a wealthy banker from England, became the leader of the church. Drummond himself took the highest position . . . the "apostle to Scotland." It was prophesied that these twelve apostles would be the last apostles to appear on the earth before Christ's return. (This is a throwback to Mani of Persia of the third century who labeled himself the "Apostle of Light," the very last apostle of Jesus to exist on the earth.) Eventually these twelve apostles died (the last one dying in 1901). Upon their death, the Catholic Apostolic Church died in England. In Germany, however, the Catholic Apostolic Church ordained twelve more apostles and took the name New Apostolic Church."

After Dowie's "Heaven on Earth" in Illinois went up in smoke (the town still exists by the way - Go, ZeeBees!), and following the Azusa Street outpouring in Los Angeles, many Christians began to ponder what was being referred to as "the five-fold ministry" and the mighty "outpouring of the Holy Spirit" that would usher in the return of Christ. Sound familiar? In his article, Viola goes on to describe historical movement after movement whereby new generations of apostles appeared on the scene, supposedly to restore the five-fold ministry to the earth.

The churches involved in these apostolic movements were charismatic in nature offering the same ol' fare from edifice to edifice, era to era. Even today, they include the same 500 year-old order of worship, the office of "pastor" (often referred to as "apostle"), nurseries, well-rehearsed singers, and ridiculously high overhead. Yawn. Nothing new under the sun, is there?

What IS the five-fold ministry? It's based upon the "ascension gifts" referred to in Ephesians 4:8,11 "Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men...And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers..."
The five-fold ministry is based upon the doma gifts, the ascension gifts. The word doma comes from the Greek word "gifts" used in Ephesians 4:8. These doma gifts did not come into the Church until Jesus ascended (hence the term "ascension gifts"). Before this time, there were apostles, prophets, and teachers, but they were not doma gifts to the Church; they were gifts from the Old Covenant.

Though I'm already aware that this message will step on some delicate theological toes, and I'm also aware there are many Christians who will remain clueless as to what this subject is all about, all I'm asking is that you read it, weigh it, pray about it, and extend grace if you disagree. If this treatise proves to be a revelation to anybody, the individuals who accept it and receive it as truth are bound to experience a brand new, deeper level of fulfillment in ministry than they EVER imagined was possible. All I know is that the so-called "restoration of the five-fold ministry"has apparently been occurring off and on for over 180 years, has been warmed-over continually, failed to ever fully materialize (and with good reason as you will see), and has been repeatedly repackaged for different target audiences.

Please, Lord...do a NEW thing.

Please request "Part 2: INTRODUCING: God's New Thing."

The Spiritually Dead Church

The spiritually dead church. Now, I am not talking about every church. There are alot of good churches out there. I am talking about, the churches who have christians, that gather only for the sole purpose to gossip, gather at social meetings, and feel important.

Alot, of churches, have turned into "apostasy" churches. Gathered only, to condemn sinners, and feel as though, they are more important than those they consider unworthy. Jesus Christ, told his followers and servents, "To gather the sheep, and preach the news to all nations. To minister to the lost, the poor, and the spiritually dead". The exact opposite, is happening. Christians, are becoming complacent, and have a hardening of their hearts. They believe, that they are above rebuke, and of higher standing than they really are. They forget, that they were once lost sheep and spiritually dead. This, my friends, is "apostasy". An abandonment, of their loyalty to Jesus, and their primary goal, "To win souls for Christ". We, as Christians, have a duty, to help those that need God in their lives. To praise Him, for everything he has done for us. For once we were lost, and now we are found. It saddens me, to think, how many souls are lost, in need of help, and a spiritual rebirth. To know that Christ died for our sins, (John 3:16), to save us, and we cannot help those that need our help the most.

We as believers, in the Almighty Sovereign God of the universe, should in brace those, that need Him, and help them in times of trouble. To minister to our fellow brethern, and those that don't know him. This, is the primary goal of the church. To show love and tolerence for those that are lost, without hope, and desolate. For if we as a Church body, cannot show this, "How is God the father going to show it to us?" To many times, I have seen people who needed help turned away, and christians, believing that they are to good to help them. They fear, that they might become infected by these lost souls. They sit in church, and listen to the minister, but they do not absorb what is being said. They look and act, as though they are followers, but their actions, speak differently. They say, "They are doing the Lords will", but they are far removed from Him. Jesus, said," I have not come for those that are saved, but those that are lost. I have come to minister about my father's love, and to save those who do not know him." "Are we not to do the same"?

Are, "We not to minister to them, and show The Father's love through us?" "How can we do this?", when we are more concerned, with what is going on around us, and not with those who need God in their lives. "How can we?", show Gods love, when we have no tolerence or patience for the lost sheep. I say, "We cannot, and should not, expect God to honor our lives, when we have not honored him!" We as christians, and fellow believers of Jesus, should chastise those that claim to be doing the Lord's will, but do not. We should not, hold ourselves above reproach and rebuke. We should honor each other, whether, saved or not.

To do this, is to be found honorable, in The Almighty God's site. Do not, judge those who look different, or are not saved. Embrace them, tell them, how Jesus changed your life and how he can change theirs. Let them, know about God's love, and how he can help them. It will not be easy, but remember what Jesus said, " You will be persecuted for my name, but lo, I am with you always, even till the end of time."

World War One: Crisis at Chanak

In late September 1922, the world was yet again on the brink of World War.

The Chanak Crisis also referred to as the Chanak Affair in September 1922, was the dire threat of military action by Turkish troops against British and French forces stationed near Canakkale (Chanak). The Turkish forces had recently swept to overwhelming victory, capturing Smyrna and routing Greece into the sea.
The handling of the situation by the British Government, not only led to the incident becoming worse but also being one of the factors which led to David Lloyd Georges downfall. The incident was also the first time Canada had asserted her diplomatic independence from Great Britain.

The British Government met on the 15th September 1922, debated and decided that British troops stationed in Turkey should maintain their positions. The absence of Britain's Foreign Secretary, Lord Curzon, led to a number of ministers issuing a communiqué which threatened Turkey with war on the grounds that Turkey had violated the Treaty of Sevres.

Unknowingly, the British Ministers had caused a severe diplomatic incident.

Returning to London on the 18th September, Lord Curzon made it clear that this act would infuriate the pro-Turkish Prime Minister of France, Raymond Poincare. Immediately leaving for Paris in order to pacify the French, Curzon was unaware that Poincare had ordered the withdrawal of French Forces at Chanak. Reaching Paris on the 20th September Curzon, following several bitter arguments with the French Government, agreed to mediate with the new Turkish authorities.

The incident had caused severe alarm not only in the Middle-East but also in France and England. Both Britain and France were alarmed at the possibility of going to war again.

The whole issue was not helped by the views and position of Prime Minister David Lloyd George. Not only did Lloyd George consider Mustafa Kemal an 'oriental rug seller' but he had not consulted Commonwealth Prime Ministers on the issue of Turkish Nationalism.

In complete contrast to the outbreak of World War One, when the Greco-Turkish War broke out, Canada did not consider itself active in the conflict. The Prime Minister of Canada, Mackenzie King, insisted that Canada's Parliament should decide on Canada's course of action. Fortunately by this time, the crisis at Chanak had passed. Nevertheless, King made it clear that Canada would determine its own external affairs.

The debacle at Chanak had grave consequences for British Politics and the Conservative Party. Lloyd George's rashness resulted in a meeting of Conservative MPs at the Carlton Club on the 19th of October in 1922, where a motion was passed declaring that the Tories should fight the next General Election as an independent party.

This motion had severe ramifications for Lloyd George as the Tories made up the majority of the 1918-1922 coalition government. Losing support from government as well as Lord Curzon, Lloyd George resigned following a Commons vote of 185 to 85 to end the coalition.

Minister Ordination

Some people like to be at the center of the action, and perhaps be the one orchestrating it all. If this sounds like you then you should investigate becoming a wedding minister. Minister ordination can be easy to do and free. Plus once you become known for your officiating talents you can make a few bucks at it too.

Couples often ask friends and relatives to perform the wedding ceremony for them and in most jurisdictions it's perfectly legal. For a multitude of reasons many people are uncomfortable submitting to the marital authority of traditional churches. Due to the US's freedom of religion (it's built right into the constitution) there are a lot of options.

After you are ordained you still need to check with the local county clerks office to make sure there are no additional local requirements for clergy to perform weddings. Generally speaking there are no further requirements beyond properly completing the marriage license and returning it to the clerk in a timely manner. A few jurisdictions such as HI, OH, NV, NYC, and VI require the minister to register before performing any wedding ceremonies.

Marriage laws are actually set at a state and sometimes the county level. While this is great way to keep the federal government from endorsing a particular religion it does give us a crazy patchwork quilt of confusing and sometimes conflicting set of laws. As the minister it is your responsibility to check the legal regulations and they can vary quite a bit depending on where the wedding is to take place. Also remember marriage law is very dynamic and many states are redefining marriage to include or exclude same sex couples.

Thailand - Situation Update

Having lived in Thailand for the last two years I have experienced their military coup of 2006 as well and their path back to democracy. The coup was bloodless and the only person I am aware of getting hurt was a taxi driver who rammed a tank park in the street because he was frustrated with it being in his way. The Thai people's path back to democracy was well planned and quite structured by the military who was governing Thailand after the coup. Initially a new constitution was written that afforded more protection against governmental abuses. This constitution was accepted by the Thai people through a referendum vote. After accepting this constitution, the people then had a general election where the same ruling party (renamed as the PPP Party) that was ousted by the coups was voted back in. This party was voted back in for several reasons; one being the people living outside of Bangkok was enamored with the promises of money through governmental programs and tax cuts. The second reason was, as it turns out, there was vote buying, which we found this out in a recent conviction of the leading party's leader of voting fraud.

The current Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej has made some huge political blunders both internally and internationally such as bringing Thailand close to fighting with Cambodia over the border line surrounding the Preah Vihear temple which was settled in 1962 by the World Court. The Thai People always felt cheated about this and PM Samak had "solved" the problem in a one day meeting with the Cambodian leader about six months ago. There has been a military build up on the border near this temple in the last few months...

So ... between the conviction and some actions and decisions that are not particularly cared for by the general population many Thai People are not happy with the current Prime Minister. The opposition party is staging protests and has been for the past 3 or more months (as of early September 2008). Peaceful protesting is a healthy expression of democracy, when the government allows people to express themselves in the open. The protests became unhealthy last week. The protesters were met with a rival group of "anti"-protesters supporting the current government. The two groups clashed and resulted in a death and over 40 injured people. The clash led to a "state of emergency" declaration by the government causing concern for the situation throughout the world.

But to put things into perspective, Thailand is still a very peaceful place to live, for everyone. The clash of political groups was an isolated event and seems to be remaining just that. Thai people should be commended for not allowing the situation to get out of control and allowing the violence to escalate. The emergency declaration, however, is worrying people wishing to visit and therefore hurting the economic situation here by impacting tourism. So we are all waiting to the politicians to solve their conflicts so Thailand can return to "the Land of Smiles".

Manning, the Oligarchs, Narcotics and Change in Trinidad and Tobago

It is understandable that many Trinbagonians are still very perturbed by former Prime Minister Patrick Manning's calling of an early election which ended in agonizing defeat for him and his party, the People's National Movement (PNM). Understandable because most of them, including citizens in the wider world haven't a clue as to how politics truly functions. They wholeheartedly and sadly believe what they see on television, hear on radio stations and read in newspapers and magazines. But things heard and seen in the print and electronic media concerning politics are almost always 26 light years away from reality.
Knowledge of surreptitious individuals slithering behind stage curtains hidden from public scrutiny and dictating to political leaders is an essential before discussing politics. Monarchs, Presidents, Prime Ministers and Dictators throughout history have always answered to them and are fully aware of the penalties surrounding disobedience. These are the faceless juggernauts that call the shots and possess all the power, resources and money to fulfill most of their temporal desires in the present socio-economic-politico construct.

In Trinidad and Tobago, some call them the oligarchs, in the wider world and to researchers like me, those lacking respect for national sovereignty, boundaries or independent governments and pull the strings of public figures are known as the global elite. Eighteenth century British Prime Minister Sir William Pitt had this to say on the topic, "There is something behind the throne greater than the king himself, there is a power behind the throne." Mayor of New York City in the 1920s John Hylan stated that "The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government." German socialist and financial advisor to Kaiser Wilhelm II and the French Rothschilds, Walter Rathaneau said in 1934 that "There is a committee of 300 men who rule the world and call the shots." And 32nd President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt wrote, in 1933 that "The real truth of the matter is as you and I know, is that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson."

Political scientists and analysts taking seriously the left, right, republican, democrat, liberal, conservative, labour or any other system designed to divide human beings, are either intentionally leading persons astray or have no idea what they're babbling about. There isn't any side, only the manipulators and the manipulated.

In Trinidad and Tobago the oligarchs who answer via stealth networks to the global elite amalgamated and decided that Prime Minister Patrick Manning had to go. They wanted him gone not because he committed any political sin but because of his unwitting meddling in their affairs. You see Trinidad and Tobago has a parallel drug economy, inclusive of a potent money laundering operation worth 52 billion TT dollars a year. Manning with his drive to destroy the local trade, which is partly responsible for much of the murders in the country was also trampling on their international transshipment turf with his various anti-drug efforts. The International Narcotics Control Strategy Reports, issued by the U.S. State Department have long listed Trinidad and Tobago as the prime transshipment hub for tons of 95% pure South American cocaine going to especially Western Europe. And it surely isn't youths on petty crack blocks with chopped ounces involved in moving that tonnage in sea and air vessels. They don't possess the connections (blood, business or otherwise) and are completely ignorant of the delicacy needed and logistics involved in such an undertaking.

Encouraged by the international authorities to lend support to the so-called war on drugs in the Caribbean, Prime Minister Manning unveiled an ambitious plan in response to the call. It included the Special Anti-crime Unit or SAUTT; a radar system in the eastern and southern Caribbean; an airship called the blimp which monitored things from the sky; modern helicopters; and interceptor crafts and fast patrol vessels. It was a fledgling enterprise which understandably didn't yield many significant arrests considering the years those involved had under their belts perfecting the trade. But was a daring start which scared the genuine organized cartels along with the independent bottom feeders and in fact limited the amount of product on the streets of Trinidad and Tobago. But whether big baron or small peddler they all clearly understood the implications of such a plan gelling over time and functioning as a well oiled machine. They all knew that the narco business in and around T&T was living on borrowed time.

Already startled, the organized syndicates in Trinidad and Tobago became further agitated when the Prime Minister announced his intention to purchase 3 large Offshore Patrol Vessels or OPVs to secure the coast lines as well as the Gulf of Paria. Alarm bells of panic reverberated throughout the upper echelons of the narcotics world and the united cry was "something had to be done." That something was Manning's removal from office. Two ways would've been naturally pondered, bloodletting via an assassin or constant vilification in the media. Too dangerous on various levels, the first idea would've been abandoned even before formal discussion and thus the second, the most effective way of destroying a public figure without leaving loose ends was chosen.

While his removal was being hatched the major opposition party dislodged its longstanding leader Basdeo Panday and replaced him with Kamla Persad-Bissessar, a woman touted as the poster-child for change and new politics. She was subsequently built up in the press as Trinidad and Tobago's saviour, equipped with the necessary talents and capabilities to drag the country further than any past leader. The gender issue was also exploited, abused and milked completely dry. Prime Minister Patrick Manning on the other hand was constantly demonized and chastised in the press as a tyrannical failure and arrogant megalomaniac whose tenure was inimical to the twin Republic. All of his contributions, accomplishments and hard work were conveniently forgotten or completely ignored.

Making a caricature of several controversial issues, the compromised press succeeded in forcing vast sections of the population to foolishly believe that Persad-Bissessar was an archangel perched atop a white horse and Manning a creature with cloven hooves, horns and a long tail. Convincing a populace prone to thinking with emotions is always easier than a Sunday morning and the hidden masters who controlled the media had a shinning star in this new and improved wonder woman.

The reputed father of Public Relations Edward Bernays stated that "If you manufacture an authoritative figure who repeats the same messages over and over again, this will appeal to the subconscious desires of the masses. The unwashed masses will helplessly follow the leader and go along with any message they spout." Even those who halfheartedly followed the election could easily recall Kamla Persad-Bissessar's constant repetitiveness regarding "change", "unity", "real development", "new politics" and "we will rise".

The artificially created atmosphere which heralded the May 2010 election witnessed mendacity, deceit and picong taken to novel levels. The opposition parties formed a coalition called the People's Partnership and easily trounced Manning and his PNM at the election polls. The oligarchs were triumphant; the stone in their shoes was removed and replaced with a cruel hoax. Now Trinidad and Tobago has a pathetic administration which promised deliverance of the sun, moon and all the other planets; a leader who's not only a demagogue but also has pathological issues with the creature; and verdant ministers not au courant with the realities of governing a polarized, problematic, cosmopolitan twin island nation. At an economic standstill, the country also floats dangerously near the low tides of regression.

More disturbing is the new government's meticulous dismantling of all Manning's anti-drug initiatives and the scant regard shown to securing Trinidad and Tobago's borders, coastlines and waters. Vilified as nugatory for almost a decade the feared blimp was immediately erased from the skies; accused of spying on the new Prime Minister, SAUTT's head was sacked, general operation stultified and the entire unit subsequently disbanded; the high-tec helicopters, fast patrol vessels and interceptor crafts are rarely used; no one is sure as to the current status of the radar system; and purchase of the dreaded OPVs has been permanently cancelled. The British company charged with building them has also slipped into very hot legal waters in the USA making complete the destruction of Manning's anti-narcotics machinery.

The global elite are obviously elated with Manning's removal because while they pretend to not be a part of the narcotics scene, they're in fact the owners of this multi-trillion dollar trade in the destruction of human life. It was they who created it when the decision was taken to "rightly balance trade" by dumping tons of opium on Chinese society in the 19th century via the British East India Company. They later created and introduced heroin, fomented the Vietnam War to, in part help further the availability of this addictive narcotic during the flower power period, and from the late 1970s skillfully constructed the South American cocaine cartels via transnational intelligence agencies. Some of the faces they control on the global political stage know exactly what is going down while most others are none the wiser. They supervise a mock war on drugs, ask leaders in the developing world to assist them in this farce and cut those leaders down if they display any genuine desire to fight the trade. Like their stooge Karl Marx, they continue to turn Hegel on his head.

Former Prime Minister Patrick Manning was a victim of this type of duplicity and many of those in the Trinidad and Tobago media who viciously maligned him were prostituted in the interest of the sinister narcotic enterprise. Others jumped on the Manning bashing bandwagon without asking from whence it came or what its destination was. The smear campaign against him had nothing, in reality to do with John Calder Hart and UDECOTT, the Guanapo Church, The Property Tax, the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority, smelter, squandermania and constructing tall buildings. These issues, important as they were, were only used to hide the real motive for the sustained media attacks on the Prime Minister. Manning and his OPVs et al stood in the way of the smooth continuation of a multi-trillion dollar illegal business venture which involves the waters and coastlines of, along with a lot of seemingly legitimate individuals from, Trinidad and Tobago. His plans also threatened the opulent but dishonest livelihood of others in South America, the Caribbean, North America, Africa and Europe.

Today you can hear citizens in wonderland and without a clue as to what is really going on still blaming Manning for "mashing up the PNM" while others, embarrassed by the raw incompetence of the new government they supported, claim that Manning was the problem and not the PNM. This is precisely what the global elitist; Caribbean oligarchs; the long list of dishonest money laundering business people and venal politicians desires all and sundry to forever believe. Trinbagonians were hoodwinked, bamboozled, flimflammed, swindled, fooled and lied to by a compromised, reliably uniformed media all in the name of DRUGS. What a lowdown, dirty shame it all is.

Reform of the State's Employment Rights and Industrial Relations Structures and Procedures

A major reform of the State's employment rights and industrial relations structures and procedures has recently been announced by Richard Bruton, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation. This overhaul is intended to streamline the current system in order to improve efficiency and reduce complexity, forum shopping and unnecessary overlap.

The current employment regime involves over 30 different employment statutes or regulations, with five redress/enforcement bodies and a upwards of six websites and thirty five different forms in use. Claimants are also faced with long delays of up to eighty weeks depending upon which forum is selected. This has led to the system becoming too complex and onerous for many employees and employers, and involves excessive delays and costs.

It is proposed that a new first instance body is to be established as a single entry portal for all employment rights cases, taking over the first instance functions currently performed by the Rights Commissioner Service, Equality Tribunal, Employment Appeals Tribunal National Employment Rights Agency, and Labour Relations Commission. This would also involve the use of a common format to submit claims and a single website to provide all necessary information. It is also intended at all appeals would be heard by a single appeals body by integrating some of the functions of the Employment Appeals Tribunal into the Labour Court. This body would act as a court of final appeal against the recommendations from the lower tier, and would assume responsibility for all legal and appellate functions currently exercised by the Employment Appeals Tribunal and the Labour Court.

The Minister has also signalled his intention to establish a new compliance model whereby grievances and disputes should be resolved as close to the workplace as possible and as early as possible after they have arisen. Another stated objective is to minimise the number of cases presenting for resolution at formal hearing through active case progression and an increased range of interventions including mediation, conciliation and arbitration.

Although the precise format for these changes has yet to be decided upon, the Minister's initiative is to be welcomed and a new streamlined system should have the effect of simplifying the currently overly-complex regime, as well as making it more accessible and cost effective.

The Minister has taken the first steps in changing the current employment rights system by appointing Ger Deering, Director of the National Employment Rights Agency to coordinate the streamlining process and Kieran Mulvey, Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission to take over the leadership of the National Employment Rights Agency, both of 1st September 2011. It is also hoped that the single point of entry and the single website for the five redress/enforcement bodies will be in place by the end of the year. In addition, as of the 1st August 2011 a new online application form for the Employment Appeals Tribunal has been piloted.

CA Doxiadis - The Father of Ekistics

Born in the year 1913, C.A.Doxiadis (Constantinos Apostolos Doxiadis) is the noteworthy Greek architect and urban planner, who is best known as the originator or Father of Ekistics--the Science of Human Settlements.

His parents were Apostolos Doxiadis and Evanthia Mezeviri. A doctor by profession, his father held the privilege of being Minister of Refugees, Social Welfare and Public Health; and distinguished himself by organizing numerous welfare services for children--putting to good use his expertise as a pediatrician.

Constantinos (sometimes spelled as Konstantinos) obtained his degree in architectural engineering (in 1935) from the Technical University of Athens and his doctorate from the Berlin-Charlottenburg University, one year later.

He began his (almost one and a half decade) government service in 1937, as Chief Town Planning Officer for the Greater Athens area. During the war (1940-1945) he was the Head of the Department of Regional and Town Planning in the Ministry of Public Works, and adjunct corporal in the Greek army. After WWII, he was designated as Deputy Minister and Director General of the Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction. Later in 1945-1948, he had the honor of being Minister-Coordinator of the Greek Recovery Program and (in 1948-1951) Undersecretary of the Ministry of Coordination.

In 1951, he founded his private consulting firm--Doxiadis Associates. From a small group of professionals, the company grew into a conglomerate that had a presence in forty countries and five continents. It undertook several prestigious worldwide engagements in: Ghana, Greece, India, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, South Vietnam, Spain, Sudan, Syria, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The group provided consulting services to the United Nations and private organizations in many foreign countries.

He was a mentor in a number of respected universities: the Technical University of Athens, the Athens Center of Ekistics, and at the Universities of Chicago, Dublin, Harvard, Michigan, New York, Oxford, Princeton, Yale, Massachusetts and Georgia Institute of Technology, Swathmore and Trinity Colleges.

He was the author of several articles and many books where he shared his personal insights on architecture and planning. His style of writing is distinctive because he often drew inspiration not only from the past and the present, but likewise often gave his "predictions" on what the future would be like. Among his books are: "Architecture in Transition," "Anthropopolis: City of Human Development," and "Ekistics: An Introduction to the Science of Human Settlements."

His most remarkable thesis is that urbanization and modernization are part of a long-term process which will finally culminate in a world-wide city--which he called an Ecumenopolis.

Despite his affliction with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Doxiadis worked and wrote until his last days. He died at the ripe age of 62, on 28 June 1975.

Rajiv Gandhi, and His Realised Vision of a Resurgent India in the 21st Century

Rajiv Gandhi, son of Indira Gandhi and Feroze Gandhi, grandson of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, and the great grandson of Pandit Motilal Nehru, one of the founders of Indian National Congress, was the prime minister of India from 1984 to 1989, through the tumultuous 1980s.

He became the prime minister of India after the tragic assassination of his mother on 31st October 1984. A sympathy wave created by this ghastly act gave him unassailable majority of 411 seats in the parliament out of the possible 542, thus winning him ¾ majority in the new parliament.

Arguably the most important contribution of Rajiv Gandhi was sharing his vision of India marching confidently into the 21st century with the head held high. In retrospect, apart from telecom revolution, the seeds of which were sown in his regime with the help of Sam Pitroda, this vision remains his greatest legacy.

Did Rajiv foresee India emerging out of poverty in the 21st century? The way it appears now, he did. The vision he painted in the first three years of his prime minister-ship was so captivating that he virtually wanted to fly to touch and feel it-after all he was a pilot himself. He energised the crawling masses so that they could stand on their own two feet and then walk quickly towards their cherished dreams, may be with the help of the surface transport. He actually wanted people to fly to their future-to the 21st century, because he had actually flown people to their destinations. He was flyer who flew high even in his imagination. In a country where so few people flew in the mid eighties, he was mocked by the naysayer; those who did not believe in the abilities of Indians and India.

Being a visionary is more like being an Albert Einstein. His mind was his laboratory. Likewise a political and economic visionary cannot conjure anything out of thin air, for he has no magic wand. It has taken many decades to the experimental physics to verify as true the many things that Einstein predicted through mathematical model building, things like Bose-Einstein condensate; though this state of matter was predicted by Satyendra Nath Bose and Albert Einstein in 1924 - 1925, but this could be proved experimentally in 1995, after 70 years, because actual technology lags far behind the theoretical physics.

In politics, pragmatists often win because they are rooted in the present as opposed to visionaries, who foresee the future.

A person who envisions for the multitudes, the laboratory that proves him right or wrong is much more slippery due to the shifting ground of public opinion. And people often forget visionaries whose vision is realised. But, can a resurgent India afford to do that to Rajiv?

It appears that the life of a Rajiv Gandhi is somewhat more difficult than the life on an Einstein.

We All Need Basic Principles For Our Life's Work In Leadership, Mission And Ministry

In these studies from the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament, we move on into Luke Chapter 10, where we are looking at some of the things Jesus did and said once He had set his face to go to Jerusalem. Jesus appointed 72 others - for a period of ministry - sending them out two by two - and they were to go and minister in the various towns and villages, where He planned to go and preach and minister later on.

There is a crucial and vital principle for ministry in the Church of Jesus Christ here - the matter of appointing. There is no use a man or woman saying - "I think I will do this. I'll decide to serve in this area or that way." Before we can really do a work for Jesus, we have to make sure that this is a work to which Jesus Christ is calling us.

We have to make sure that this is the way in which Jesus wants us to be serving.

Jesus has to call us - appoint us - anoint us - and send us. Again the principle is developed in the New Testament - Jesus does not come Himself and do that appointing and the sending. He invariably delegates that to others, and that is when certain problems can arise.

When I went to Uganda and twice to Kenya over these recent years I have always made sure I have had the full support of the local church. That is vital. Otherwise the entire mission can just be of the flesh. It, of course, can still be that but at least you go in the knowledge that the local fellowship has agreed and sent you on your way.

There is another important spiritual principle here. Jesus sends out 36 pairs of missionaries - 36 teams of two. Nobody should be doing things on their own - no lone rangers. We should not be going out and seeking to serve and minister on our own. In some situations it can be far too dangerous to be on your own. Again, two of us went to Uganda and three of us went to Kenya, and when I was on my own in Kenya I always made sure I had the presence of one of the local leading Pastors with me.

It is good to have at least one other person with you - when one can strengthen the other - and pray for - and support. We have no authority whatsoever for going out and seeking to do things on our own. We have to be under authority - we have to be covered with shepherding care and support and authority - and know that help is available if anything should go wrong.

Jesus sends them out in pairs.

When the work is over, they return to the fellowship. It is equally important to return to the fellowship and report back as to how you have got on.

Jesus saw a large harvest, but there were not many willing workers - only some 36 pairs on this occasion. That might appear to us as quite a few!

Jesus says to them - "Pray for more workers." Those who are appointed and anointed and sent are told to pray, "Lord, give us more workers." There is so much work to be done here, that we need more willing workers - willing committed trained disciples who will serve.

Jesus also makes it clear from the beginning - GO - I am sending you out as lambs among wolves. So, when we find ourselves in this situation we should not be too surprised. Jesus has warned us.

There will be many dangers. It will be perilous work, but as we go and serve, He will be watching over us. If this were not true, we would soon be killed by the wolves.

Jesus then goes on to teach those who are prepared to do business for Him - TRAVEL LIGHT. There are principles here for mission and ministry which we each to embrace and accept.

Former Information Minister Dora Akunyili May Replace INEC Chairman Maurice Iwu

Yours truly believes Iwu's removal is long over due and letting him conduct the next election will only contaminate the fresh air that seems to be coming from the leadership of Goodluck Jonathan. I will disagree with those who are of the opinion that it doesn't matter who conducts the election - people will still complain and criticize who ever runs INEC.

Humphrey Nwosu conducted the election considered to be the best election in Nigeria in 1993 and is still considered a hero today. Iwu has never been commended for any election he has conducted both locally and overseas and coupled with the contesting of election results across the country goes to say much about the election process.

If the rumors are anything to go buy, appointing the well celebrated former NAFDAC Director Mrs. Dora Akunyili as INEC chairman would be the best thing that happen to this country. She is an amazon and has stood up for all that is right and just for Nigeria and her reputation precedes her. From NAFDAC to her outburst in the recent quagmire in the presidency the story has not changed.

With all due respect to Iwu, he has done his best for Nigeria and it is high time we tried a different hand at INEC. If there was any better time we need a credible election in this country it is now and Dora Akunyili is then perfect person to make that happen. History beckons on Acting President Goodluck Jonathan as he makes this bold step to preserve our nascent democracy.

Becoming A Minister Onto Yourself

To become a minister onto yourself, I mean not the noun, but the verb -- to minister. I become a minister to myself by ministering to myself. The dictionary says the verb "to minister" means "to give service, care or aid". So that is what I must do, give service, care and aid to myself.

Like a Church Minister, I can give service to myself by caring for myself and giving aid to myself. I can support my knowing of the Truth. I can stand in the Truth. I can see beyond appearances to the Truth and support that in my life as a minister would do if I went to him or her.

I become my own minister by administering the Truth. The definition of "to administer" is "to direct or manage, to give out". So I direct or manage the knowing and believing of Truth. I give thoughts of Truth to myself.

As humankind has evolved in its spiritual understanding, we have moved from the administration of Spiritual ideas and Religious practices by a select, authoritative, unquestionable few (like Oracles and Popes and Patriarchs) to being in direct contact with the Source. We are growing into an understanding and acceptance of having a personal relationship with Spirit. How could we not? It is us and we are it.

So in this new direct relationship with Spirit, we must step up to the pulpit, as it were, and become a minister of the Church of One. The Church of One (ourselves) and the Church of One (Universal Unity). We become the authority figure in our lives. We become the knower and sayer of Truth Principles. We support our continuing growth in Spirit.

Treat yourself as a parishioner in the Church of One. If you have a problem, if you are in need of counsel, turn within to the Infinite Universal Intelligence which resides there. Be a crusader of Truth in your own life. Know that you are Good, that there is only Good. Know that there is only the Oneness of Good. There is only Life, Love, Light, Peace and Joy. There is only one Power and it is the Power of Good. There is only beauty because there can be only Harmony in a Unity of One. These are the Truth Principles to stand in, to believe in, to live in.

My late, great teacher, Rev. Harriet, wanted us all to become ministers because she wanted us all to live every moment in these Truth Principles, as a Minister would. Not to know these Principles theoretically. Not to just hear about them on an occasional Sunday. But to live them practically, that is, in practice. To live them daily. To embody them in every thought, belief and action.

Because, ultimately, no can think for you but you. No minister can think for you. He or she can only give aid. He or she can only direct you to correct thinking. But you must do the correct thinking for yourself. You have it within you to know the Truth.

You have it within you to allow Spirit to work in your life. You can be a Minister of One.

Pastor Help: A Sheep Dog for the Shepherd

Working for God can be both exhilarating and tiring. It's fun when you feel the Holy Spirit that rose Christ from the dead flowing through you to help people. Yet it can be exhausting when the people exalt you to the place of God and forget to pray to God themselves. We must never forget God will not permit any flesh to glory in His presence (1 Corinthians 1:29). God does not share His glory.

As ministers we realize God alone is all powerful, wise and loving. Communicating that to a congregation effectively however requires that sometimes you not always be accessible throughout the week to your people so they can learn to go to Pastor Jesus instead of you.

Remember Jesus is the chief Shepherd of the flock and we His under shepherds. Among the fivefold ministry gifts mentioned by the apostle Paul in Ephesians chapter 4, the Pastor is the most residential one of them all. He therefore is by nature most local and accessible. Nevertheless there is a balance that must be achieved and proper protocol to be established to ensure the Pastor maintains his personal sanity and the people direct their focus to God.

If a church only knows the Pastoral office and never feeds on any other ministerial gifting it is easy to quickly idolize the Pastor above measure. Each minister has been allotted by God a "measure of rule" within which they are granted a divine grace to get the job done (2Corinthians 10:13).

When we try to enlarge ourselves beyond measure and stretch our ministerial mantel beyond our God given grace, a breakdown is inevitable. The day of the one-man show is over. God is looking to build a body of believers who are secure in Him, strong in the Spirit and grounded in His Word. Among the three models of churches in the early New Testament, the church at Antioch proved to be most in alignment with the model of developing breakthrough believers.

The church at Jerusalem was primarily built on the apostle Peter's personality (Acts 2), without which when persecution hit the church they all scattered (Acts 8). The is quite common for many churches established upon the senior Pastor's personality. When the Senior Pastor is away the attendance declines and the offerings decrease.

The church at Ephesus was one in transition as Priscilla and Aguila showed the way of God more perfectly to Apollos (Acts 18:24-26). We all need mentors. Even ministers need ministry to strengthen, encourage and empower them. This Apollos received and as a result he grew into another level of meaningful ministry.

In the natural realm, every shepherd has a sheep dog to help keep the sheep in order. The sheep dog barks a bit and gives the shepherd some rest throughout the day. The sheep dog has his own way of getting through to the sheep. The sheep dog may be a bit more rough, but nevertheless the same results are derived.

A sheep dog in modern day church vernacular could fall within the fivefold ministry offices. Such a minister could be local within your congregation or in the body of Christ at large worldwide. This sheep dog of sorts can take the pulpit for the Pastor and say certain things to the congregation that the Pastor might want to say but be a bit hesitant in articulating. The sheep dog can be a bit more bold and aggressive in order to get the sheep to wake up, come into alignment with the vision and stop fighting one another.

When a Pastor is weary in well doing, he needs to call in a sheep dog to bark a while. Don't let your congregation, church committee or a few irritating church members get the best of you. Call in the sheep dog to help set the house in order!

Doing Business - How Africa Encourages the Informal Economy

It takes less than ten minutes to approve certain documents towards starting a new business in New Zealand. At most, it takes a day to get a business approved to open its doors to customers. And all the procedures are combined into a single step. That is why the World Bank ranked it #2 in its Doing Business 2010 report. This pattern of quick new business approval is similar in most developed nations where it could take from a day to a week. In the United States, it takes about a week to launch a new business.

But move to Africa. It takes 136 days to get approval to start a new business in Equatorial Guinea. Why? Because the country's Prime Minister must approve all new businesses. Yes, a Prime Minister must approve a small business to be operated by a college student in that country. By moving this approval to the office of the Prime Minister, the nation creates about 20 procedures compared to 1 in New Zealand.

Yet, Equatorial Guinea does better than another country, Guinea-Bissau. Guinea-Bissau needs 213 days to approve a new business. The fees and legal costs are a factor of 807 more when compared to New Zealand. So if an entrepreneur in New Zealand pays $1 to launch a new business, the counterpart in Guinea-Bissau will pay $807, in relative terms.

The whole outlooks show that only the rich can afford to create new businesses in most parts of the black race. In Haiti, it takes more than three years to get a building permit with many layers of bureaucracy.

From personal experiences, the World Bank numbers are reliable. I have created firms in two countries. In the United States, it took less than a week and all was done via the web. In Nigeria, it took weeks with endless and needless documentations. We spent the first few weeks to search for business name and that could only be validated in Abuja, the nation's capital. The problem was that the regional offices were not equipped to check for these names. Documents were sent to the approving commission headquarters where business names are approved before the regional offices could complete the paper works. Nigeria is ranked #125 out of 183 countries in the World Bank's Doing Business 2010.

From Cameroon to Botswana, the experience is basically the same. The high barrier to incorporation makes it tougher for most business owners to operate and join the formal economy. The reality is that unless Africa finds ways to improve its business registration climate, most entrepreneurs will continue to operate in the informal sector thereby depriving the state much needed taxes and fees.

I used some of the numbers provided by World Bank to see the relationship between the Doing Business ranking and the percentage of the GDP in the informal economy. There were no surprises- a correlation exists; as the incorporation barrier increases, the percentage of GDP in the informal economy also increases. So, Guinea-Bissau has more of its GDP controlled in the informal sector than New Zealand.

There are many reasons why this trend happens in Africa where we have disproportionate informal economies dominating our GDPs. One is that most business owners in Africa are not educated and their businesses rarely need government approvals to thrive. The women that sell oranges and carrots on the highways may not bother to register with the governments as there seem to be no major benefits that corporations could give their businesses. The same applies to most African subsistence farmers.

Another reason is the cost and time needed to incorporate. When most entrepreneurs consider these factors, they decide to go under and operate in the shadow economy.

Nonetheless, most of these business owners will be most willing to incorporate if the process is efficient and affordable. From Nigeria to Cameroon, Africa must work very hard to modernize most of its business environments so that people could be attracted to launch businesses legally. If they leave the system as it is, governments are basically encouraging their entrepreneurs to shun the formal sector. Certainly, it will not be the best model for development.

Haiti - Culture And Sports

CULTURE

Like Katherine Dunham, Lillian Hellman, W.B. Seabrook, Erik Leonard Ekman, Alejo Carpentier, Selden Rodman, Noel Coward and Angeline Jolie, many people say that Haiti is the most beautiful country in the Caribbean. Known as the "Magic Land", Haiti is famous for its culture. Certainly, Haiti its culture, its superstitions and its music. The superstitions or voodoo plays a profound role in the lives of many Haitians. The voodoo was introduced into Haiti in the late 16th Century. Haiti is also famous for its painting, and finally for its ruins...for example the Sans Souci Palace, the most famous ruins in the Caribbean. Exactly, this enigmatic palace is considered a Cultural Heritage for Humanity by UNESCO. Originally constructed by black slaves, now Sans Souci is one of Haiti's main tourist attractions.

Since the late 1940s, Haitian painting, best known as "naïve art" or "intuitive art", is famous all around the World. The most important figure was Hector Hyppolite. His work made its biggest splash in the United States in the 20th Century. Other artists known internationally include Rigaud Benoit, Castera Bazile, Joseph Jean-Giles and Jean-Baptista Bottlex.Haiti is famous for its traditional sculpture. The best Haitian sculptor is Albert Mangoes.

Gerthie David "The Black Goddess"

In 1975, many Haitian people were shocked to open their newspapers and see photographs of Gerthie David Miss Haiti in El Salvador. On the night of July 19th 1975, in San Salvador, Gerthie David, Miss Haiti, was the second black woman to first runner-up in the history of Miss Universe Pageant. After winning the Miss Haiti title, Gerthie went to San Salvador, the capital city of El Salvador, to enter the Miss Universe Contest. SPORTS

Like in Brazil or Italy, the football is the most popular sport in Haiti. Certainly, the national pastime is the football. A different of the Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico, the Haitian people don't like the baseball. In the 20th Century, football became the most popular sport in the Island, thanks to such heroes as Sylvio Cator, Joseph Gaetjens and Emmanuel Sanon. In 1974 Haiti qualified for the World Cup in Germany.

Emmanuel Sanon was one of the Haiti's most popular players and played at the 1974 World Cup. Sanon made a great contribution to Haitian football because he played in more World Cup qualifiers any other Haitian. He is still very popular with local fans. Other phenomenal talent was Joseph Eduard Gaetjens. He represented both Haiti and the United States. He made FIFA World Cup History: When scored United States opening goal in the 1950 World Cup against England. Joseph came to the United States in the 1940s to play in the American Soccer League. His beautiful play in the Brookhattan Club made in a national star. In 1953, he played for Haiti for the first time.

It's practically impossible to talk about Haitian athletes without mentioning Sylvio Cator. He is a legend in this sport. Cator won the silver medal in the long jump at 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. Cator returned home to a hero's welcome. From 1928 to 1930, he was record man in the long jump. Cator was a marvelous jumper and footballer. He also played an important role in popularizing football in the Island (it was the captain of Haitian National Team).

Since then, he is an example for young people in Haiti. He died in November 1938, but today the people of Haiti still think of him with respect. Many years after Cator's death, the National Stadium in Por-au-Prince was renamed in his honor. Cator was the first of the great Caribbean sportsmen that would come to dominate world track and field.

Central Florida Dream Weddings, 5 Fabulous Features

Central Florida is a fantastic place to get married. It's no surprise why people from around the world come to Central Florida to enjoy our world-class attractions and beaches. It truly is a children's paradise, not to mention it's a honeymooner's dream.

Brides adore Central Florida and find it the perfect place for their dream wedding. Here are 5 reasons why brides choose Central Florida for the location of their dream wedding:

1. Location, location, location

Oops! Did I say that three times? Well, it is only the first reason, but the primary one at that. Central Florida's Orlando international airport is easy to get in and out of. Kids can even navigate through it due to its ease, signage, and accessibility.

Brides love Central Florida because after their wedding, they can immediately begin their honeymoon. There is something to be said about being married and honeymooning in the same place. After countless months of planning and preparing for a wedding, the last thing a bride wants to do is endure a long plane flight to her honeymoon destination.

2. Countless options for a theme wedding.

As our lifestyles become more modern and contemporary, so do our weddings. Many people are getting bored with the same old, traditional style wedding. Central Florida provides many lovely venues, theme parks, and resorts at attractions to choose from.

Whether you want a culturally sensitive wedding, elegant serene ceremony, or unconventional ceremony with a touch of adventure - Central Florida has it all.

3. Outstanding weather all year.

Central Florida has terrific weather all year that can accommodate any bride's dream wedding. Forget and leave the snow behind. You can get married in Florida any time.

Timing is crucial for many who work and must manage their vacation time. A weekend wedding in Florida can be done at any time and not be a burden.

4. Reasonably priced and affordable.

Thankfully, Central Florida is a very well priced place compared to the rest of the country. A bride working within a budget, can do a dream wedding for a reasonable amount of money and still have a lot left over to enjoy her honeymoon.

5. Flexible wedding ministers to officiate your ceremony.

Unlike many traditional ministers who are bound to their respective denominations, Central Florida is a place where ministers break the mold and accommodate brides. A dream wedding must be one that is personalized the whole way through, that includes the ceremony and how it is officiated.

Beyond a personal touch and being official, the ideal wedding minister will work creatively with the bride and groom to incorporate their personality throughout the ceremony. This can be done through the ceremony format and structure, what text will be read, and the length of the ceremony.

Consider those 5 fabulous features for a Central Florida wedding, when you are ready to tie the knot.
As a wedding minister who has traveled to over 50 countries and 6 continents, I can sincerely say Central Florida is the ideal place for a dream wedding.

Mother of the Bride - This Word's For You

This is a touchy subject and I approach it with great caution -- the subject of the mother-of-the-bride. The majority of mothers are wonderful to work with and help their bride-to-be-daughter in any way needed. But there are a few who throw a monkey wrench in the works by dominating the planning and demanding that everything be done her way.

To begin let's just state: It is your daughter's wedding, not yours. Please, please, please, let her have something to say about what she wants and what she needs you to do. Yes, you are probably spending a great deal of money on this wedding, but it is still your daughter's wedding.

It is wise to sit down with your daughter in the beginning of the planning stage and volunteer to help (notice - it says help and not "take over.") Let her ask for your advice and, when she does, give her the advice she asks for rather than using it as an opportunity to tell her how to do everything else as well. She and her fiancé should pick the cake, the flowers, the music, the venue and the minister -- together. If they ask for your opinion, then freely give it. If they choose not to follow your advice, let that by o.k. and don't let your feelings be hurt.

Some stories from my own experience may help clarify what I mean.

Arriving a few minutes early, I checked the ceremony site, tested the microphone and generally got my bearings. I looked up to see the mother of the bride in a bright-colored, form fitting, spaghetti strapped dress going up and down the aisle as if to say, "Look at me. Look at me." A caution flag popped up in my mind. I then went to check on the bride who, as is usual, was hidden away in a dressing room. Just a few moments before it was time to go out, the mother came in with a very formal bouquet (the bride was already holding a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers). The mother handed her the very formal bouquet and announced, "You will use this bouquet because I paid $50 for it" and, not leaving time for a response, she promptly left the room. The bride, after taking a few moments to regain her composure and with tears brimming, said to her maid of honor, "I won't allow her to ruin my wedding and the bouquet isn't what's important here." She picked up mom's bouquet and proceeded to the place for the processional. It was a beautiful ceremony that could have been an emotional disaster had the daughter not reacted in such a mature way.

At another wedding, the mother of the bride pitched a total tizzy-fit when her former husband came in with his new wife. In front of all the guests, she screamed, "You can't sit here (on the front row) and made the new wife go to the back row. The father, obviously embarrassed -- as were many of the guests -- went back to accompany his daughter in the processional. The bride, who had heard it all, was in tears and we had to wait while she regained her composure. Now I ask the couple at our initial meeting if either of them have parents who have divorced and remarried and if there is conflict. The seating is worked out well in advance to avoid such a dilemma. I'm sure the memory of that incident will remain strong in the bride's mind for years to come. I know I won't forget it.

A few days before the wedding, one mother of the bride read the ceremony the couple and I had designed and insisted that it be changed to the traditional wedding ceremony. The bride, not wishing to have a confrontation, yielded to the mother and I'm sure she will always wish she could have had the beautiful ceremony that had been designed just for them.

There are many similar stories However, the critical point is that the mother of the bride is a very important person in her daughter's life and in her wedding. Planning a wedding is a time that mother and daughter can build delightful memories that last a lifetime or a time that damages their relationship for years to come. It can be a time of wonderful sharing, planning, shopping and laughing -- or not. Mom, it's up to you.
