The list of motives for being ordained online as a minister is long. While you might think most people do it as a joke you would be surprised. Some people have a deep spiritual sense that is just not fulfilled in our modern world. It's not just that technology separates us from some fundamental organic aspect of being human. It is also that the religious institutions that are supposed to foster a spiritual connection have so much baggage the average person flat out rejects them.
Rules, regulations, atrocities in the name of religion, and abuse of power all are diametrically opposed to the emotions and experiences of making that cosmic connection, the unity of realizing you are one with the universe. Online ordination cuts through all that red tape and hierarchy and allows people to just feel the sense of awe and excitement that was the core motive for the creation of the plethora of mixed up religious dogmas currently clouding humanities spiritual aspirations.
Followers of traditional churches often howl in protest at their perception of illegitimacy of simple and easy ordination such as offered by the Church of Spiritual Humanism. But their claims that one needs years of seminary and submission to a rigid pecking order to be as one with the universe ring shadily hollow.
If you have the inclination to take in the big picture and really see your place in this world, don't let the naysayers control you. Be bold and embrace your own spiritual side, heed the call of becoming ordained.
